Apocalypta (2023)
Oil on 30 x 40 canvas
'Apocalypta' is based on feelings of rage, betrayal, and wanting to find a sense of revenge. These feelings are based on my own and that the observed perspective of black women. A significant paradox when it comes to expressing our emotions is that we are vilified, demonized, and ignored despite how truthful they are to us. Apocalypta represents the build-up of these emotions and finding that sense of revenge by ending the world. This painting is made to recognize those emotions and understand the outburst we may want to let loose from suppressing them internally and being misunderstood.

'Body Langauge' speaks on the unspoken language and ever-changing motions of the body, and how they impact each other. This language is silent, awkward, and forward, yet universally understood. This painting focuses on the concept of the unstill verbiage and how it intertwines with us physically, as well as mentally.
